James grew up in Manchester and started his apprenticeship young. With over twenty years in the trade, he has spent his career learning to do things properly. Precise cuts, tight joints, and finishes that you can actually run your hand across and feel the quality. No shortcuts, no bodge jobs. That was drilled into him from day one.

Along the way he has taken his skills to some incredible places. He even helped build an orphanage in Africa, putting his craft to work for something bigger than himself. It is that kind of person he is. He does not just turn up and do the bare minimum. He cares about what he builds and who he builds it for.

Over ten years ago, life brought him to Canada. He settled in the Muskoka region with his wife and kids and set up A British Finish. The idea was simple: bring that Manchester work ethic and British standard of finish to Canadian homes. After a decade of building for Canadian families, he is a trusted name in the region. He treats every client's home the way he would treat his own. If it is not right, he will not leave it.
